History
Follow every change made to the org chart, see who made it and when, and undo it.
Overview
The history records every change made to the org chart: roles created, moved, duplicated or archived, members assigned or removed, roles invited into other roles, and role content edited. Each entry names its author, dates the change, and stays undoable.
The history covers the structure of the organization. Discussions, tasks, meetings and decisions have their own trail in the news feed.
Opening the history
The history is a panel of the org chart page. Two ways to open it:
- Click the settings button above the org chart, then History.
- Right click the org chart background, then History.
Entries are grouped by day, most recent first, and the list loads more as you scroll down.
Reading an entry
Each entry shows the photo and the name of its author, a sentence describing what changed, and the time it happened. The roles and members named in the sentence are links: click one to open it in the org chart.
An entry that has been undone appears struck through, followed by a new entry naming the member who undid it.
What is recorded

Changes applied by an approved proposal are recorded the same way, under the name of the member who wrote the proposal.
Undoing an action
Point at an entry and click the button on its right. A window opens with the action, a Show changes link that details the values before and after, and a Cancel this action button.
Undoing replays the change backwards with your own rights. An action is undoable when you could have made the same change yourself under your governance mode, so the button appears only on the entries you are allowed to revert. The organization Owner undoes everything.
Two cases go further than a simple revert:
- Undoing the archiving of a role restores the role together with everything that was archived alongside it.
- Undoing the creation of a role archives that role and everything nested under it since.
If the roles or members touched by the action have changed since then, Rolebase warns you and asks you to confirm with a checkbox, because those more recent changes can be lost.
An undo is recorded as an entry of its own and stays final. To return to the previous state, make the change again.
Actions during a meeting
A meeting page lists the org chart changes made while it was running, under Actions during the meeting. Open the section to read them, and undo one from there when needed.
Changes applied by a decision
When a proposal is approved, the changes it carried reach the live org chart and land in the history. The decision saved by the proposal lists them under Org chart changes, which keeps the record of what was decided next to the record of what was applied.
